Winter Past In Montana

This winter we had a really big blizzard here, Flathead Valley in Northwestern Montana, and I took this picture. The wind was blowing about 45 mph (you can see the trees bending in the picture) and the snow was drifting pretty bad. I geared up and kept my camera warm, it was about 35 below zero, give or take 10 degrees due to the wind. This piece of old farming equipment is the reminants of my family's old homestead here. We settled in this part of montana over 100 years ago, on paper at least In the middle right of this picture you can barely see a slight depression in the ground about 10 feet from this piece of equipment. That depression is where the original house used to be before 1880, it is long and gone now. It was winters like the one depicted here that drove early homesteaders out of montana or broke them.
